A Mid-Week Update from the Pastors!
(click it - it's a youtube video)
As a result of the wide-spread pandemic of the novel coronavirus and an Executive Order by the Governor of Virginia that all public gatherings of more than 10 people are banned for 30 days, all of our public worship services have moved online for the time being. Everyone is invited to join us for worship on Sunday mornings by visiting our Facebook Page or our Youtube Channel

April 6 through April 11 – Holy Week

There are members of the Music Ministry Team who have prepared a few selections that we will be premiering on our Facebook Page every day during Holy Week (April 6-11) along with some prayers and meditations from the pastors.

April 12 – Easter Sunday

Themes: Harvest, Reap, Gather

We also encourage everyone to continue to be in prayer with other United Methodists of the Virginia Annual Conference by praying at noon every day.
With so many changes to our daily routines and schedules it can overwhelming trying to keep track of what has been canceled, postponed, rescheduled, or moved to an online meeting. It is our hope that we will keep our website regularly updated with important church announcements and information about meetings, rehearsals, or other ministry events that are taking place at First UMC over the next few weeks.

Dear FUMC family,

As the Treasurer here at FUMC, I wanted to keep you informed on how things are going with receiving your monetary gifts since our time of distancing" began.

The on-line giving through the church's website has remained stable or slightly more for this month to date. I attribute this to the fact that these contributors give their gifts on a regular basis this way, so it is easy to stay "on routine." However not being able to worship in congregation has really affected our weekly "offering plate" giving with only about 1/4th of our average weekly gifts being received in the last 3 weeks.

Please let me encourage you to use the on-line giving on the church's website, or, if this is not comfortable for you, simply place your gift in the mail to the church's address.  It will be received and deposited in the usual manner on receipt to continue the ministries and finances of our church.

Peace and blessings to all.

Beryl Wilkes

Treasurer-FUMC

Make sure you scroll all the way down each page and you'll see ways that you can donate funds, time, and supplies, or receive those items as well.
